2026-27 AY Lecturer Pool - Mathematics

Overview The Mathematics Department in the College of Natural and Social Sciences at Cal State LA seeks candidates for a Part‑time Temporary/Lecturer Pool to be filled as needed during the 2026‑2027 academic year. Positions may be for one semester or an entire academic year, depending on instructional needs. Responsibilities Provide instruction in assigned courses. Prepare course materials and deliver lectures. Assess and grade student work. Hold office hours and provide academic support to students. Perform additional duties as required by the department. Minimum Qualifications MA/MS degree or higher in mathematics from an accredited university, or an MA/MS in another field in special circumstances. Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level. Strong written and oral proficiency in English. Ability to engage and work effectively in a diverse, multicultural environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse student populations. Relevant professional work experience and training. Commitment to student‑centered learning and inclusive teaching practices. Duties Duties of part‑time faculty lecturers include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean. Salary and Compensation Initial salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, based on the following ranges (per salary schedule 7/1/2024): Lecturer A/2 – $5,507 - $6,677 per month Lecturer B/3 – $6,221 - $13,224 per month Lecturer C/4 – $6,825 - $14,523 per month Lecturer D/5 – $8,593 - $15,211 per month Equal Opportunity Statement Cal State LA is an equal opportunity employer.
