Under general supervision, the Warehouse Clerk assists with the receipt, storage, and issuance of warehouse materials, tools, and equipment. This position supports daily warehouse operations by performing routine clerical and manual tasks, maintaining inventory records, and assisting in annual warehouse audits. The Clerk receives guidance and training from the Warehouse Technician and provides reliable support for daily warehouse functions. This is the entry-level classification in the warehouse series. Incumbents perform routine clerical and manual duties in support of warehouse operations, including checking in deliveries, distributing parts, and maintaining organized storage areas. Work is performed under close supervision with limited independent decision-making responsibility. The Warehouse Clerk differs from the Warehouse Technician in that the Technician exercises greater independence, maintains more complex records, assists with training, and oversees the Clerk's daily work. Both positions report to the Senior Administrative Analyst, who has overall supervisory and program responsibility.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Receive, check in, and distribute deliveries of tools, parts, and materials.
• Assist with inventory cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and update inventory records.
• Deliver parts and supplies to work crews and job sites.
• Maintain warehouse organization, including bins, sheds, and storage areas.
• Research parts and supplies, obtain quotes, and prepare orders as directed.
• Maintain accurate records of receipts, issues, and stock levels.
• Support the annual inventory audit process.
• Adhere to safety protocols when handling equipment and hazardous materials.
• Safely operate City vehicles and equipment including forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent and one (1) year of clerical or warehouse experience. License(s)/Certifications:

• Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license upon hire and maintain it throughout employment with the City of Victorville.
• Must obtain a Forklift Operator Certification within six (6) months of hire.

Knowledge Of:

• Basic principles and practices of warehouse operations and inventory control.
• Basic purchasing and billing procedures.
• Safe handling and storage of hazardous materials.
• Modern office methods, practices, and software applications (e.g., MUNIS).
• Basic mathematics and recordkeeping methods.
• Safety practices and procedures related to warehouse environments.

• Provide courteous customer service to coworkers and vendors.
• Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Maintain accurate records and perform clerical warehouse tasks.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely.

Physical Demands & Working Environment

(Must be performed with or without reasonable accommodations) Positions in this class typically require balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and performing repetitive motions. Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally (up to one-third of the workday), 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently (one-third to two-thirds of the workday), and up to 10 pounds of force constantly (two-thirds or more of the workday) to move objects. Physical demands exceed those for Light Work and may require the use of a hand dolly to move objects weighing up to 160 pounds. Incumbents may be exposed to machinery and its moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, high noise levels, travel, and environmental conditions such as wide temperature variations, fumes, smoke, grease, odors, and dust. Incumbents must be able to see and hear within the normal range, with or without correction.
