Job Title: Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 or 48 hours Experience: Must have Epic experience License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Must-Have: AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification required AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS certification required Description: Delivers coordinated nursing care for patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff. Coordinates care with other disciplines while utilizing critical thinking and professional judgment. Collects relevant data pertinent to patients' health or situation. Analyzes assessment data to determine diagnoses and care issues. Develops a plan that prescribes interventions to achieve outcomes. Implements the plan and coordinates care delivery. Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. Evaluates progress toward attaining outcomes. Collaborates with the team of patients, families, and healthcare providers in providing patient care. Provides learning opportunities for patients, family members, and team members. Directly provides health information to patients and their families. Participates in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care. Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties among healthcare team members. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Commits to the safety and well-being of associates and patients, requiring all staff to receive all mandatory vaccinations. E-Verify participation is a requirement of employment. This facility has a 6-bed ICU and a 6-bed stepdown unit. Staff shares duties between the units with a ratio of 1:2 in ICU and 1:3 in the stepdown unit. Patient acuity may occasionally require 1:1 care in the ICU. Typical patients include those with respiratory failure, DKA, post-cardiac catheterization STEMI, sepsis, and alcohol withdrawal. The stepdown unit admits patients on drips for AFib RVR and requires management of titratable IV drips. Nurses should be able to manage medications such as vasopressors, propofol, and fentanyl. ICU shifts are from 0700 to 1930 or 1900 to 1930.
