Certified Medical Assistant

Overview Sentara Gastroenterology Specialists in Norfolk, VA is hiring a full-time Certified Medical Assistant. Up to $5,000 sign‑on bonus offered to eligible candidates. Location & Shift City: Norfolk, VA. Work shift: First (Days). Responsibilities Perform patient care and administrative/clerical tasks and procedures based on training, education, competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, NP/PA, RN, or LPN. Provide an environment for safety; identify, address, and incorporate principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees. Perform patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties as appropriate. Objectively assess situations from multiple viewpoints, consider alternatives, assist with realistic action plans, and evaluate outcomes. Demonstrate the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter‑departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices. Operate productively and efficiently in daily operations. Utilize appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible. Education & Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (Preferred). Licensure & Certifications Active CMA, RMA, or NREMT–Basic (Required). BLS required within 90 days of hire. Phlebotomy experience (Preferred). Experience 1 year of clinical or administrative experience (Required). Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision plans.
