Dance Instructor

Job Description

Dance Instructor — We Can Teach You the Steps. Bring the Spark.

Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Morristown, NJ

Do you have the kind of personality that can make a room more fun just by walking into it?

Good.

We’re looking for our next Dance Instructor, and while dance experience is certainly welcome, we’re even more interested in finding someone with energy, confidence, curiosity, and the ability to connect with people.

Because here's the thing:

We can teach you how to dance.

Teaching someone how to light up a room? That's harder.

This might be your kind of job if...

• You'd rather move around than stare at a computer all day.
• You genuinely like meeting new people.
• You're competitive enough to want to get better at something.
• You enjoy performing, entertaining, coaching, teaching—or all four.
• You're comfortable being a little outside your comfort zone.
• You like the idea of getting paid to dance, travel, compete, perform and help people accomplish things they never thought they could do.

What exactly would I be doing?

You'll learn to teach ballroom and Latin dancing to adults ranging from complete beginners to competitive dancers.

One hour you might be helping a couple prepare for their wedding.

The next, you're teaching someone their first salsa.

Later, you could be training a student for a competition, rehearsing a showcase routine or getting ready to compete yourself.

No two days are quite the same.

“But I'm not a professional dancer...”

That's okay.

Some of our best instructors didn't start that way.

We're looking for potential, not just a résumé.

Dance, theater, gymnastics, cheer, athletics, music, hospitality, sales, fitness, teaching or other performance experience can all translate extremely well.

What matters most is that you're coachable, dependable, energetic and willing to work hard at becoming really good at something.

What you get

Professional dance training.

A career where developing your own skills is literally part of the job.

Opportunities to perform and compete.

A social, energetic workplace.

Growth opportunities for people who want more responsibility.

And perhaps most importantly:

You'll have stories from work considerably more interesting than “I answered emails today.”

The audition

Yes, we said audition.

Don't worry—we're not expecting Dancing with the Stars .

We want to meet you, see how you move, see how you interact with people and figure out whether this world might be a great fit for you.

If you're reading this thinking:

“This sounds strangely like me...”

Apply.

You might have just found a career you didn't know you were looking for.

## About Smooth Style

Smooth Style is the team behind **Fred Astaire Dance Studios – Morristown**, but we're much more than a place where people learn dance steps.

We’re in the business of creating experiences.

Our studio is energetic, social, competitive and just a little bit unpredictable—in the best way. On any given day, our team might be teaching a first dance, preparing students for a competition, choreographing a performance, hosting a packed studio party or traveling together to an event.

We believe great instructors aren't simply born—they're developed. We invest heavily in training, coaching and creating opportunities for talented people to grow into exceptional teachers, performers and professionals.

Our culture is built around **energy, growth, teamwork, accountability and having a genuinely good time doing something we're proud of.**

We work hard. We laugh a lot. We compete. We perform. We celebrate wins. And we get to watch people walk through our doors saying, *“I can't dance,”* and eventually do things they never imagined themselves doing.

**That's Smooth Style.**
