He or she is responsible for assessing transplant candidacy, managing pre- and post-transplant care, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes; identifying the etiology, pathogenesis, and clinical significance of hepatobiliary disorders; documenting findings and treatment plans in detailed clinical reports; and communicating diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations to referring physicians. The scope of practice of this role includes serving Cleveland Clinic's diverse patient population as well as national and international referrals for liver transplant evaluation and second opinions. Responsibilities of the Staff Physician, Transplant Hepatology also include training and guiding medical students, residents, and fellows and presenting and publishing novel findings and research in hepatology and transplantation. Weekday and weekend on-call responsibilities and periodic weekend hours as needed. Intermittent telecommuting permitted. Requirements: At minimum, the position requires an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent as determined by a credentials evaluation or as evidenced by an ECFMG certificate; completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology; completion of a fellowship in Transplant Hepatology; and eligibility for medical licensure in Ohio.
