Compensation: $23.67 per hour (or $26.30 per hour for retirees). Responsibilities: Implementation of the early childhood or preschool educational program. Implements the daily classroom program as assigned, including music, meals, group projects, free‑time and supervision of students. Prepares and organizes the physical classroom space and classroom materials in accordance with the planned educational program. Interacts positively with all children to support their individual learning and emotional needs. Prepares and serves snacks and meals to the children; eats with the children. Assists with record‑keeping on individual children and families as directed; completes written observations and participates in development and implementation of individualized student plans. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively and relate positively to students, parents, staff and volunteers in a diverse environment. Ability to adjust to varied situations, demands, and new instructional concepts. Ability to operate general office equipment such as photocopier, fax, personal computer, telephone, etc. Ability to attend occasional evening meetings and visit parents in their homes. Ability to supervise students on scheduled field trips. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED). For long‑term assignments: 72 quarter credits earned at an institution of higher education; or an associate’s degree or higher; or a passing score on a state or local assessment; and at least six months experience working with children or young adults. Documentation of Portable Background Check through the Department of Children, Youth and Families prior to hire. Compliance with state and federal background check requirements. Desirable Qualifications: Post‑high‑school courses in early childhood education. Proficient in keyboarding, word processing, spreadsheet software, internet navigation, and email applications. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children aged three to five. First aid and CPR certification for employee’s assigned to the health room and transportation. Access to a personal vehicle and proof of insurance.
