Job Summary The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of occupational health and safety programs to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards during commissioning and production operations. This role works closely with employees, leaders, contractors, consultants, and vendors to identify and mitigate workplace hazards, promote safe work practices, and foster a positive safety culture. The OHS Specialist provides technical guidance on occupational health and safety requirements, assists with risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations, supports training and emergency preparedness initiatives, and partners with cross-functional teams to drive regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and continuous improvement while helping maintain a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment. Shifts 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM Days, A-Shift (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday & Every Other Wednesday) - Shift schedule and hours may be adjusted based on business needs. 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM Days, C-Shift (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Every Other Wednesday) - Shift schedule and hours may be adjusted based on business needs. 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM Nights, D-Shift (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Every Other Wednesday) - Shift schedule and hours may be adjusted based on business needs. Essential Duties Functional Operations Support the implementation and maintenance of occupational health and safety programs, policies, and procedures Utilize and maintain safety monitoring tools, systems, and equipment to support program execution and regulatory compliance Maintain regular on-site presence across assigned operational areas to support safety oversight, employee engagement, and incident response activities Prepare and maintain required safety records, permits, reports, and documentation in a timely and accurate manner Participate in emergency response activities, drills, and preparedness initiatives Promote safe work practices through employee engagement, coaching, and observation Performance Optimization & Continuous Improvement Conduct and support risk assessments, process hazard analyses (PHA), and management of change (MOC) activities Coordinate and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits, inspections, incident investigations, and risk assessments Evaluate workplace conditions, equipment, and operational processes to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions Perform routine audits and inspections to verify compliance and support continuous improvement initiatives Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development Track corrective actions and verify completion of assigned safety improvement activities Support initiatives that strengthen safety performance, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence Training & Team Support Assist in the development and delivery of occupational health and safety training programs for employees and contractors Provide coaching and guidance regarding safety requirements, procedures, and best practices Support onboarding and safety orientation activities for new employees, contractors, and visitors Encourage employee participation in safety programs, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication Serve as a resource for occupational health and safety programs, policies, and regulatory requirements Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support safety compliance and risk reduction initiatives Communicate safety observations, trends, and improvement opportunities to leaders and employees Collaborate with operational teams to implement corrective actions and improve workplace safety performance Quality, Safety & Compliance Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local occupational health and safety regulations and standards Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and documentation reviews as needed Maintain current knowledge of relevant OSHA regulations and industry best practices Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related field Relevant work experience may be substituted for required education Preferred Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or progress toward professional certification OSHA 30-Hour Certification HAZWOPER Certification First Aid/CPR Certification ISO 45001 training or auditing experience Lockout/Tagout or Electrical Safety training Respiratory Protection or Fit Test Certification Essential Qualifications 2+ years of occupational health and safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, construction, commissioning, or similarly regulated environment Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry standards such as NFPA, ANSI, NEC, ACGIH, and NIOSH Experience conducting workplace inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations Experience developing or delivering safety training programs Experience supporting contractor safety activities and field-based safety programs Experience performing or supporting exposure monitoring for chemical and physical workplace hazards Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across multiple functions Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Ability and willingness to support emergency response activities outside normal business hours as needed Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking Alignment to Panasonic's seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude) Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting commissioning, startup, or construction activities within manufacturing or industrial operations Familiarity with lithium-ion battery manufacturing, chemical handling, or other high-hazard operations Working knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or similar management systems Experience participating in internal audits, regulatory inspections, or compliance assessments Background in industrial hygiene, ergonomics, or occupational exposure assessments Experience supporting safety committees or cross-functional improvement initiatives Experience using EHS or safety management software platforms Experience working with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies as applied to health and safety programs Physical Demands Sit: 20% Walk: 40% Stand: 40% Required Lifting and Carrying Rare ( For This Position, The Required Frequency Is Up to 10 lbs.: Frequent Up to 20 lbs.: Occasional Up to 35 lbs.: Occasional Team-lift only (over 35 lbs.): Rare Benefits & Perks - What's In It For You Health Benefits – Offering medical, dental, vision, prescription plans, plus Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account options.
