\n Holt CAT in north Dallas is looking for a experienced heavy construction equipment technician. This position is responsible for performing inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of diesel-powered heavy construction equipment and/or related equipment or components, following established procedures and guidelines. Must be able to work independently or as a member of a team to provide mechanical services that satisfies customer needs and achieves departmental goals.\n
\n
\n Mid-level position – Generally has more than four years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A Level III Technician has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Level III Technician performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self-starting; often a team member on a large project.\n

\nEssential Functions\n
\n

\n
• Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission

• Troubleshoots and diagnoses construction equipment malfunctions and failures
\n
• Disassembles and assembles of machine components to manufacturer’s specifications through the use of hand tools, pneumatic tools, and any specialized tooling 
\n
• Rebuilds, repairs, reconditions, and maintains equipment and components
\n
• Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
\n
• Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
\n
• Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
\n
• Mentors and helps train other technicians
\n
• Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition 
\n
• Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner 
\n
• Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
\n
• Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
\n
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths 
\n
• Requires regular and punctual employee attendance 
\n
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
\n
• Knowledge of heavy construction equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, and other dirt moving equipent preferred
\n
• Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems - CAT ET & CAT SIS Preferred
\n
• Quality control analysis skills - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance and communicate findings
\n
• Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
\n
• Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job 
\n
• Ability to operate a conventional forklift and an overhead crane 
\n
• The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions 
\n
• Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
\n
• The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
\n
• The ability to read, write, and understand information
\n
• The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
\n
• Must have basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
\n

\nRequirements\n
\n

\n Education and Experience:\n

\n

\n
• Four or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred 
\n
• Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred
\n
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
\n
• Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred 
\n

\n

\n Physical Requirements\n

• Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

• Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

• Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
\n
• Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment 
\n
• Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment 
\n
• Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work
\n

\n Work Environment\n

• Regularly works indoors around moving mechanical parts
\n
• May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity 
\n
• Noise level may be loud at times
\n
• Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment
\n
• Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment 
\n
• Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
\n
