Location: 100% REMOTE (Strongly prefer PST & MST time zones due to international overlap with UK & Australia)

Compensation: $170,000 - $200,000 + benefits

Summary:

Our client is seeking a remote, hands-on Financial Controller to own accounting and financial reporting across three legal entities in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. Reporting to the CFO, this role runs the entire accounting function independently, leads the company’s first external financial statement audit, and presents monthly to executive leadership and the board.

What You’ll Own

\n
• Act as the company-side lead for the external audit, owning auditor selection, the timetable, the PBC list, and query resolution without escalation.
\n
• Build and maintain a standing audit-ready file, with reconciliations, support, and technical memoranda documented as you go.
\n
• Run month-end and year-end close across all three entities and deliver the group consolidation from local trial balance through consolidated result.
\n
• Own foreign currency accounting under ASC 830, including functional currency determination, translation, revaluation, and cumulative translation adjustment.
\n
• Own share-based payment accounting under ASC 718, including cap table reconciliation to underlying contracts, grant valuation, and expense recognition.
\n
• Perform intercompany reconciliation and elimination, apply the group transfer pricing policy, and maintain documentation that holds up across three tax jurisdictions.
\n
• Own revenue recognition under ASC 606 for bundled hardware and subscription arrangements, and maintain the deferred revenue schedule and release waterfall.
\n
• Prepare statutory financial statements for each entity and manage US GAAP to local reporting differences.
\n
• Own capitalization of internal software development costs, fixed assets, leases, inventory, and hardware deployed at customer sites.
\n
• Manage US federal, state, and local tax compliance including sales tax nexus, and coordinate regional tax advisors.
\n
• Develop and enforce internal controls, own group accounting policies, and drive automation across the close and consolidation process.
\n
• Oversee AR, collections, DSO performance, AP, and the billing and renewals cycle.
\n
• Present monthly consolidated results and performance analysis to executive leadership and the board, and lead and develop the accounting team.

Must-Haves

\n
• Substantial audit depth, earned either through professional services or by acting as the company-side lead on external audits.
\n
• Ownership of external financial statement audit - the client will be preparing for a first time audit so this experience is critical.
\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including time as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
\n
• Multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation.
\n
• Hands-on transfer pricing across multiple tax jurisdictions.
\n
• Share-based payment accounting under ASC 718, including cap table reconciliation to underlying contracts and grant valuation using Black-Scholes or an equivalent model.

• Applied ASC 606 experience in a subscription software environment.
\n
• Demonstrated ability to run an accounting function independently without a CFO backstop, including presenting results directly to executive leadership and a board.

• Preparation of foreign statutory financial statements and management of US GAAP to local reporting differences.

• Experience working in a US entity that reports into a foreign parent company.

• Prior experience moving a group off spreadsheet-based consolidation into an ERP.
