Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Sports Medicine/Lameness Veterinarian to join the team at Brandon Equine Medical Center in Brandon, Florida. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering high‑quality equine veterinary care, possess advanced diagnostic imaging skills, and be comfortable working in a referral hospital setting with an emergency/on‑call rotation. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient examinations and medical work‑ups. Provide client communication, education, and consultation for sports medicine treatment plans. Perform diagnostic procedures and surgeries, including advanced ultrasonography and regenerative medicine therapies. Maintain accurate medical records and handle pharmacy duties, such as prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols. Promote teamwork and staff efficiency. Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations. Evaluate and monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge. Attend daily rounds when possible to uphold highest standards of care. Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications (Required) Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution. Current State Veterinary License. DEA registration. 1+ year veterinary practice experience. Strong diagnostic and clinical skills. Excellent surgical and dental skills. Team‑oriented work style. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities. Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality care. Client communication skills (rapport, explanations, and reassurance). Ability to manage physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Advanced training or board certification in Sports Medicine or Surgery. Certification through the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology (ISELP). Formal certification in chiropractic care or spinal manipulation therapy. Demonstrated clinical knowledge in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, and neurological examinations. Problem‑solving ability for high‑quality veterinary hospital management. Effective communication with clients and internal staff. Professionalism and openness to constructive feedback. Business acumen regarding management and finances of a veterinary practice. Strong ethical foundation guiding patient care decisions. Commitment to continuing education and facilitation of learning for others. Pay Range
$100,000 — $145,000 USD
