DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION

The Engineering Assistant II will be responsible for design and/or coordination of the production of drawings, exhibits and graphic presentations using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) computer programs aiding in the preliminary design and programming for building, pavement, lease, development and utility functions unique to the Airport environment for the Department of Airports.

JOB SUMMARY

This position is located in the in the Property Management and Development Division of the Airports Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor. Engineering Assistant II is a full proficiency, para-professional classification focused on the design, administration, or supervision of a major component of an engineering function. Specialized work areas include water, storm sewer, paving, building construction, or sanitary sewer. Essential job functions include: designing or coordinating plans, specifications, and construction for projects prepared by the City within an assigned area; reviewing plans prepared by consultants that may impact the area; preparing various documents and reports; determining and monitoring funding allocations; and distributing required information to coordinate and facilitate construction. Engineering Assistants II may supervise a technical staff, with work products subject to review by a Civil Engineer or other immediate supervisor.

VETERANS PREFERENCE

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Possession of an associate's degree or higher in Applied Science in Drafting, or related degree. * Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Computer Aided Design Drafting (CADD) for an architectural or engineering firm, with emphasis on production of conceptual or final design plans and specifications. * Additional experience in ARCMAP or related GIS software in production of design plans and specifications or professional survey documents. * Experience in on-site survey and data collection, and integration of these data into engineering or architectural plans and documents. * Experience in providing technical assistance and plan review comments and quality control for final documents and in the development of alternatives for engineering solutions for buildings, pavement (airfield and streets) utilities, and site development.
