Job Description Job Description Job Summary AFC Urgent Care Stamford is looking for a dedicated, experienced Medical Assistant to join our team. You will provide general medical care under the direction of a licensed provider to patients in a fast-paced outpatient urgent care setting. Because our clinic operates without an on-site manager, we need a self-starter who can manage their own workflow, work independently, and take ownership of their responsibilities. This position works directly with a franchised business location; specific job duties and benefits can vary between franchises. Schedule & Location * Full time: 36-39 hours per week * Monday- Friday 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, 12-hour shifts * 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM, with rotating weekends * Candidates who live in or near Stamford are strongly preferred — the commute matters when you work 12-hour shifts What We're Looking For * Urgent care or primary care experience strongly preferred * Proficiency in phlebotomy (blood draws), EKGs, and point-of-care testing — required * Bilingual English/Spanish a strong plus * Self-managed and dependable — able to work independently without direct on-site supervision Benefits & Perks * Paid time off * Health insurance * Dental insurance * Retirement benefits * Employee referral incentives * Great small business work environment * Flexible scheduling * Additional perks! Responsibilities * Obtain patient vitals, medical history, and reason for visit, and prepare the patient for a physical exam * Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients * Ensure all ordered tests are performed accurately and in a timely manner * Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the approved procedure * Draw blood and prepare labs for reference lab processing and/or in-house processing * Perform laboratory tests, lab-quality controls, and equipment maintenance according to written instructions * Respond to all lab messages and call-back requests * Perform all drug screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations * Ensure patient immunizations are well documented and administered in accordance with the approved procedure * Conduct physician referrals as well as service pre-certifications on an as-needed basis * Prepare exam rooms; sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures Maintain complete and accurate documentation * Other duties and responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. AMTregistered and AAMA-certified Medical Assistants are preferred.
