Registered Nurse - Cardiac Stepdown

Job Description

Job Summary:
Seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a Cardiac Stepdown unit, primarily working night shifts on 4x12 or 3x12 schedules. Candidates will manage adult to geriatric patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions, requiring acute clinical skills and efficient patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care for patients with cardiac arrhythmias, post-cardiac cath, and various surgical conditions.
• Administer continuous IV medications including cardiac drips, diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips, ensuring proper titration and patient safety.
• Monitor, assess, and respond to patient symptoms, performing procedures such as cardioversion and managing chest pain, CHF, COPD, pulmonary edema, DVT, and PE.
• Document patient care accurately in Epic or other unit systems, and communicate effectively using SBAR protocols.
• Float as needed within the facility to support various units and ensure coverage during staff shortages or high census periods.
• Respond to call within two hours, and work during major holidays as scheduled, including holiday rotations and shift flexibility.

Qualifications:

• Current and valid GA or Compact RN license.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience managing cardiac drips and continuous IV medications in an acute care setting.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Proven ability to manage arrhythmias, perform cardioversion, and handle complex cardiac and medical conditions.
• Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work night shifts and adapt to floating within a multi-faceted hospital environment.
