Press Assistant

Reports To: Production Manager Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm – overtime during busy seasons will be required and/or voluntary Location: Northport, AL Job Overview Assist Press Operator with setup, run, and tear-down of screen print jobs, and to unload garments from the press while doing a brief quality inspection of the print. Job Responsibilities –including but not limited to Load and unload screens, inks, and squeegees into the press in the proper print order Unload garments onto the dryer - ensuring that print is in registration and there are no errors before sending the garment down the dryer Assist in the tear-down of jobs after completion & the set-up of new jobs to complete Work and communicate as a team with the Quality Control Catcher and the Press Operator Alert the Press Operator of any discrepancies with the print on the garment Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Experience in the screen-printing industry is required Attention to detail Workspace organization Ability to multitaskCan stand for extended periods of time Able to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion Memorization of key ink types Ideal Candidate Qualities Punctual Solid communication skills Ability to work well with others Attentiveness to the needs around the shop Willingness to learn quickly and are able to adapt to different tasks assigned Strong attention to detail and organization skills Compensation and Benefits Starting pay of $12-$13/hour Benefits include health insurance, paid vacation and holidays, employee discount, Production Bonus, Simple IRA Retirement Fund, dental, vision, + more Opportunities for Advancement Being part of the Press Team will allow candidates to learn the technical aspects of garment decoration, as well as focus on teamwork, organization, effective communication, and eventual operation of the press itself. Press Assistants can advance quickly by showing competence in the position and demonstrating they understand the order workflow process and capitalizing on helping not only their team but other press teams as well during any downtime.
