The Billing Assistant plays a critical role at our Family Medicine Practice by managing the accurate submission and processing of medical claims. Working under direct supervision, this role requires occasional patient interaction and relies on specialized software systems to ensure billing compliance and efficient financial operations.
Responsibilities
- Submit medical claims accurately and on time
- Post payments and adjust patient accounts
- Manage patient billing inquiries and statements
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility
- Reconcile accounts to ensure billing accuracy
- Perform data entry and maintain detailed records
- Monitor compliance with billing regulations and policies
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in medical billing
- Certification in Medical Billing and Coding
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with medical billing software
- Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Proficiency in insurance verification processes
- Accounts receivable management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Excellent time management abilities
