Admitting Clerk Arcata, CA

The Admitting Clerk/Switchboard Operator assists in the operation of the hospital by greeting and registering patients for procedures and admissions. Representatives should have a strong working knowledge of hospital systems, computers and data entry. The Switchboard Operator answers all incoming calls, routes telephone traffic, and serves as the hospital receptionist.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Ability to interact with the public, relate well to others, and maintain a positive and professional demeanor
2. One year of related experience in the healthcare industry preferred
3. Good verbal and written communication skills
4. Experience working in a computer database desirable
5. Visual acuity to read documentation tools, manuals, and other material relevant to the department
6. Auditory acuity to hear verbal communications and instrument alarms
7. BLS certification within three months of hire
8. Maturity and emotional stability; ability to handle fast-paced physical activity, rapidly changing conditions, emotional demands, demands of maintaining effective working relations with peers, managers, patients and others.
