Building Security Officer Day Shift

Building Security OfficerThe Building Security Officer is responsible for the security of Delta Center. The Security Officer will learn and master all security systems in the building and apply this knowledge along with set security protocols to ensure the safe day-to-day operations of the property. SHIFT HOURS: 8AM-4PM, $19 PER HOURDuties & ResponsibilitiesPatrol areas at regular intervals to ensure that the properties are secure and safeWrite reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrencesAnswer alarms and investigate disturbancesMonitor and adjust controls that regulate building systems, such as air conditioning, furnace, or boilerAnswer telephone calls to take messages, answer questions, and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closedAssist with VIP and/or event crew parkingAssist with crowd flowAssist guests in emergency situations, which could include medical or evacuationsAssist guests with special needsMonitor safety and security conditions in areaEnforce arena safety and security rules and policiesComplete required training successfullyBe respectful of our guest's and employee's property during screening and searchesBe proactive and friendly in connecting with guests and employeesBe responsible for ensuring all guests and employees are aware of Delta Center policies as they pertain to safetyOperate with an emphasis on safety for employees, teams, and guestsExemplify the mission and values: transparent, all in, community obsessed, one team, and scrappyOther duties as assignedCompetenciesInstills trust – Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.Communicates effectively – Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.Ensures accountability – Holding self and others accountable to meet commitmentsManages conflict – Handling conflict situations effectively, with minimum noise.QualificationsMust be at least 18 years of age.Must possess a valid Utah driver's license.Must be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) screening in accordance with company policy and insurance requirements.Must be able to pass a drug test.Must be comfortable searching bags and a person's body respectfully and efficientlyMust be able to take objections and respond with a guest service approach firstMust be able to follow verbal and written directionAble to work flexible hours (evenings, weekends and holidays)Strong verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with guests and other employeesMaintain a professional appearance as set by Delta Center managementPhysical DemandsAbility to stand for the entire shift (55% Standing/Walking, 45% Stair Climbing)Frequent climbing of stairs, moving of barriers and boxes of handout materials up to 25 pounds.Must stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or twist.
