Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland’s most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware. With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the US, as the College does not offer Visa sponsorships. JOB SUMMARY: Adjunct Instructor of Interpersonal Communication needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-person, daytime classes in accordance with Cecil College-approved syllabi and the stipulations of the Department of English and Humanities. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Conduct assigned classes in accordance with the approved master course syllabus and stipulations of the department, including administering a final exam or culminating activity, meeting all assigned class times and submitting attendance and grades as per college processes. Utilize the current College course management system (Canvas). Establish, post and maintain at least one-half hour before or after class meetings. Adhere to copyright laws provided on the Library site for the college web portal. Regularly and routinely check Cecil College email accounts and respond in a timely manner to emails from the department chair, administrative staff and students. Cecil College email must be used for all email communication with students and any college business. Participate in Cecil College Academic Monitoring. Submit any Incomplete Grade Contracts to the Administrative Assistants in Academic Programs. Support College-wide testing and actively encourage students to participate. Participate in course assessment and program reports, as needed. Complete required Safe Colleges. Support the mission, vision, and values of the College and the policies of the Board of Trustees. Act in accordance with the letter and spirit of applicable laws, College policies, rules, and expectations, and the terms of the contract for the current academic year. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK: Master’s or Ph.D. in Speech or a related discipline Successful college-level teaching experience in the related field. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills. Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills. LMS experience (e.g., Canvas) Able to work with students with disabilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers. Availability for in-person, daytime teaching. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles. Acknowledge that walking and standing are sometimes necessary in carrying out job duties. The Fiscal Year 2026 Credit Adjunct Scale is as follows: 2 semesters of less at Cecil ($830 per credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters+60 or $855 per credit hour for individuals Masters+60 or a Earned Doctorate); More than 2 semesters at Cecil ($855 per credit hour for individuals with less than a Masters+60 or $880 per credit hour for individuals Masters+60 or a Earned Doctorate).
