Strategic Sourcing Specialist

Overview First Solar reserves the right to offer you a role most applicable to your experience and skillset. Responsibilities Obtain bids and source carrier capacity for projects. Negotiate pricing and delivery with key vendors and support qualification of new suppliers. Maintain carrier scorecards and align allocation with high performers. Lead carrier development exercises to improve service to First Solar and external customers. Maintain rates in Oracle Transportation Management (OTM). Analyze carrier spend and discuss data. Essential Responsibilities Manage the commercial relationship between First Solar and its carrier base. Use OTM and inputs from stakeholders to determine needed capacity to meet contractual obligations. Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with carriers. Investigate new providers for improved price, delivery, and quality. Propose and support qualification of new providers. Coordinate with logistics team to schedule and arrange timely, cost‑effective deliveries. Notify carriers of changes in project plans. Analyze carrier spend and performance metrics. Interface with all departments and suppliers. Perform computer input and maintain effective communication levels. Adhere to all First Solar internal processes and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Job description subject to change at any time. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain discipline, or equivalent experience. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Good working knowledge of supply chain practices, MRP concepts, and ERP systems (Oracle or SAP preferred). Comfortable working with engineering databases and discussing specification changes with suppliers. Required Skills and Competencies Proven organizational skills – ability to prioritize. Proven computer skills, including Microsoft Office. In‑depth knowledge of TMS concepts. Experience managing suppliers and supplier relationships. Experience negotiating cost reductions and terms and conditions. Proven communications and interpersonal skills. Accountabilities Creative and latitude expected. Improve carrier performance. Maintain and improve supplier relationships. Reporting Relationships No direct reports. Travel 5 – 10 % Salary $62,500 – $89,000 annually Physical Requirements All positions in the office require interaction with people and technology while either standing or sitting.
