Overview Missouri Baptist Medical Center is an acute care hospital in St. Louis County that offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. It has a 24‑hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is a 16‑bed inpatient unit caring for post‑operative cardiovascular and thoracic surgical patients once they no longer require intensive cardiovascular monitoring. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose: Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing standards. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family‑centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development. Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with members of the interprofessional team and the patient, family, or caregiver. Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs. Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs. Works in a constant state of alertness and performs duties in a safe manner in a safety‑sensitive position. Minimum Requirements Education: Nursing Diploma/Associate’s – Nursing. Experience: No experience required. Supervisor Experience: No experience required. Licenses & Certifications: Registered Nurse (RN). Preferred Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing.
