Software Engineer II

Role Overview Applied Signal Technology (AST) is seeking a Software Engineer II to participate in the design, development, and testing of software solutions at its Salt Lake City, UT location. The role is on-site. Responsibilities Participate in requirements, design, development, and testing of software, including development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems. Design, code, test, integrate, and document software solutions. Participate in internal review of software components and systems. Collaborate with project managers and other professionals within Engineering. Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products. Qualifications - Must Have Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. Experience developing in modern programming languages (e.g., C++, Java) in a Linux environment. Good working knowledge of data structures and efficient use to solve problems. Experience with one or more scripting languages (e.g., Python). Experience working with containerized software and associated tools (Kubernetes, Helm, Podman). Ability to obtain a U.S. government issued Top Secret SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph. U.S. citizenship. Qualifications - Preferred Experience with multithreading. Experience working both in a team environment and individually. Experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP. Experience with Qt and User Interface development. Experience with Angular web GUI development. Embedded SW Design experience. Experience in integrating software with hardware. Experience with Configuration Management tools such as Git. Experience maintaining and using build processes (makefiles, CMake). Familiarity with event-driven systems and messaging platforms such as Kafka. Familiarity with RESTful APIs and gRPC. Basic understanding of telecommunications systems concepts and/or signal processing. Basic understanding of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Standards. Security Clearance & Citizenship U.S. citizenship is required; only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
