Program Coordinator

Program Coordinator San Diego Youth Services seeks a Program Coordinator in the I CARE program to be based in San Diego. This is a full‑time & non‑exempt position reporting to the I CARE Program Director. About San Diego Youth Services San Diego Youth Services has helped improve the lives of more than 834,000 homeless, runaway and vulnerable youth since its beginning in 1970. We provide safe places to live and long‑term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing to more than 16,000 youth every year at 100+ community and school locations. Through prevention, early intervention and treatment, we also help youth before they need higher levels of care or become homeless. We aim to: Meet the basic needs of youth – hunger, poverty and youth homelessness are on the rise for many families. We help meet these basic needs for youth, providing safe places to live and long‑term solutions through shelter, foster homes, community centers and housing. Create positive connections – we help youth focus on positive life changes and healthy relationships as part of providing needed resources and services. Help youth develop life skills – we offer support to help youth develop independent living skills necessary to become self‑sufficient. Promote overall health and well‑being – we provide a broad continuum of services to help youth overcome trauma and challenges that put them at risk, including case management, counseling, mental health treatment and educational support. Responsibilities Program Financials Assist Program Director in monitoring the budget, purchasing, inventory, management, and documentation of facility spending. Monitor expenses and submit appropriate expenditure forms. Work with Program Director to ensure component compliance with the program budget. Program Administration Develop and maintain component services in compliance with funding requirements and ensure quality control of data collection and services. Design, maintain and evaluate contract reporting system; submit monthly and quarterly reports to Program Director. Participate in contractor monitoring visits. Ensure staff understand roles; provide supervisory support and paperwork completion. Identify and delegate component activities as reflected in contract goals and objectives. Provide general administrative support. Maintain facility cleanliness, health and safety standards, and provide safe, consistent care for youth. Coordinate referrals, activities and services with internal and external partners. Report required facility, I.T. or equipment repairs. Ensure program has food, snacks, office and therapeutic supplies. Create and maintain policy and procedures manuals and onboarding & training handbooks for staff, volunteers and interns. Provide program coverage when needed. Clinic Administration Responsible for all data entry into medical records management systems and compiling patient health information. Gather partner's financial information and determine yearly deductible and health coverage eligibility. Manage and maintain psychiatry schedule, coordinate intakes and schedule follow‑ups. Personnel Support onboarding, training and coordination of new staff, volunteers and interns. Ensure adequate program coverage during hours of operation. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work or related field with two years equivalent experience; master’s degree preferred. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Bookkeeping, record keeping, data collection and contract compliance abilities. Experience with social services and youth programming. Bilingual preferred. Experience with Medi‑Cal billing preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Ability to work with a culturally and ethnically diverse community. Commitment to cultural awareness. Pass clearance for working with minors. Organized, personable and able to remain calm under stress. Valid California driver’s license, good driving record, willingness to use personal insured vehicle; mileage reimbursed. Certification in CPR and First Aid mandatory. Must pass background checks including tuberculosis test, fingerprinting and drug testing. Available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Physical Requirements Ability to bend at the waist, kneel or crouch to assist students. Ability to hear, speak and present information. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Ability to read, prepare and review a variety of activities and monitor youth activities. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods. Ability to walk extended lengths to move around sites. Potential exposure to physical injury from aggressive behavior. Compensation and Benefits Hourly Pay Range: $30.29 - $31.73.
