About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Profession: RN Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: RN License required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Ability to read basic rhythm strips prior to arriving. Description: The Stroke Telemetry Unit is a high-acuity, fast-paced medical-surgical environment specializing in the care of acute stroke and complex telemetry patients. This is a 34-bed unit designed to deliver evidence-based, protocol-driven care with a strong focus on patient safety, rapid intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities include performing and documenting frequent neurological assessments, including the NIH Stroke Scale. Monitoring and interpreting telemetry rhythms and responding to changes in real-time is essential. Ensuring compliance with stroke core measures, including dysphagia screening, education, and care plans, is expected. Administering medications using BCMA standards with a focus on safety and accuracy is required. Coordinating care with an interdisciplinary team, including providers, therapy, and case management, is necessary. Managing admissions, discharges, and patient flow in a high-turnover environment is part of the role. There will be a constant focus on falls prevention, skin integrity, and patient safety. Completion of 8 Hours of Stroke Training is required.
