Employees of the Escambia County Sheriff's Office are expected to be loyal, work in a safe manner, use common sense, and complete their work efficiently and correctly.Examples of DutiesReceives, reviews, prioritizes, and organizes various documents for service; makes attempts to effect services on names parties. Obtains locations of named parties utilizing a variety of research and basic investigative techniques. Documents information concerning service attempts, new location information, and reasons for not effecting service; maintains related monthly statistical reports, District assistance logs, and other related reports; calculates information and records required data; reviews and signs applicable forms validating service. Maintains and organizes the use of assigned County vehicle. Represents the Sheriff's department when subpoenaed to court to testify concerning service effected and procedures followed. Monitors two-way radio and maintains communication with applicable staff responding to calls for assistance. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.Typical QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. License and Certification Requirements: Valid driver's license. Knowledge of (position requirements at entry): County geography. Defensive driving techniques. Customer service principles. Research methods. Basic investigative techniques. Skill in (position requirements at entry): Providing customer service. Reading maps. Conducting research and basic investigative work. Recalling names, faces, addresses, details of incidents, and physical surroundings. Reacting quickly and appropriately in confrontational situations and taking effective actions in emergency situations. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.Supplemental InformationMaterial and Equipment Used: Motor Vehicle Two-Way Radio Digital Pager Modern Office Equipment Geographical maps Positions in this class typically require: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, blood and other bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, and travel.
