What you will do The Loan Officer will evaluate, authorize, and recommend approval of loan applications. The Loan Officer will work directly with members to understand their borrowing needs, offer appropriate loan products, and ensure compliance with credit union policies and regulations. This role plays a critical part in driving loan growth and providing excellent member service. Interview and assist members in completing loan applications, explaining loan products, terms, and requirements. Review and analyze credit information, financial statements, and other documentation to determine creditworthiness. Make recommendations on loan approvals or denials based on credit analysis and lending guidelines. Ensure loans comply with credit union policies, regulatory standards, and risk management practices. Maintain accurate and timely loan documentation and records. Build and maintain strong relationships with members to encourage repeat business and referrals. Collaborate with underwriting, processing, and servicing teams to ensure smooth loan transactions. Keep informed of market trends, competitor products, and lending regulations. Meet or exceed individual and team loan origination targets. Participate in community outreach and marketing initiatives to promote lending products. What we need from you The ideal candidate will have a member-first attitude and value all people. Candidates must demonstrate a sense of urgency in responding to members. They must also be punctual, dependable and demonstrate the ability to earn trust and respect by consistently acting with honesty and professionalism. Candidates should also have High school diploma or equivalent required. 6-12 months of lending, sales or customer service experience; CSE experience preferred. Strong knowledge of CSE lending products, underwriting criteria, and credit analysis. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to analyze financial data and make sound credit decisions. Proficient with loan origination software and Microsoft Office. Customer service oriented with the ability to build rapport and trust. One (1) year minimum experience in a credit union or other relative financial institution Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software and electronic products Prior loan underwriting experience with the ability to understand credit reports and/or sales experience is strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to identify and solve problems A desire for continuous learning Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to attend to details and pursue quality in accomplishing tasks.
