Software Engineer, Compute Infra

SpaceXAI is building infrastructure for artificial intelligence and autonomous agents. As a Software Engineer on Compute Infra, you will design and build sandbox infrastructure that provides isolated virtual machines for coding agents, reinforcement learning systems, and other AI applications. You will work on one of the world's largest sandbox clusters, managing millions of CPU cores across multiple datacenters.

What You'll Do

• Rearchitect the control plane and scheduler to support 1 million concurrent VMs per cluster
• Build a ublk block device capable of deduplication, lazy loading, and efficient VM data snapshots
• Design an egress proxy and network isolation layer to securely filter, monitor, and route agent traffic
• Design resilient systems that operate across a mixture of cloud and on-premise datacenters
• Develop the virtualization layer using technologies like Firecracker and Cloud Hypervisor microVMs

What You Need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a scientific discipline
• OR 2+ years of professional experience building software

Nice to Have

• Deep experience building compute orchestration systems such as Kubernetes or Mesos
• Experience building and operating large fleets of VMs and isolated sandboxes
• Experience with the Linux kernel and virtualization technologies
• Interest in designing infrastructure primitives for future agent systems
