Scientific Program ManagerThe International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) is seeking a mission-oriented Scientific Program Manager with exceptional communication skills to join the expanding Scientific Affairs team. The Scientific Program Manager works with global scientists and healthcare professionals to advance collaborative science projects in the areas of thoracic cancer pathology, small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma, and thymic cancer.This full-time, exempt, nonsupervisory position reports to the Director, Scientific Affairs and works a hybrid schedule out of our Denver office. Sponsorship and relocation assistance are not available for this position.Essential Functions:Work with IASLC membership to develop and implement scientific programs, research projects, and education to advance knowledge of thoracic cancers. Areas of focus include thoracic pathology, digital pathology, biomarker testing, small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma, thymic cancer, and DIPNECH.Manage the entire life cycle of scientific projects. Includes co-development of projects with IASLC members and leadership, management of schedules and timelines to ensure that deadlines and deliverables are achieved, status reporting to appropriate leadership and stakeholders, results/deliverable dissemination, and program evaluation.Serve as the primary staff liaison to the Pathology and Rare Tumors Committees providing project management and administrative support.Communicate scientific and medical content to a variety of audiences including healthcare professionals, scientists, and people with lung cancer and their loved ones.Support the preparation and creation of scientific and medical content for grants, proposals, website, project materials, and publications.Help develop, execute, and manage budgets, contracts, and data use agreements.Proactively implement organizational and project management tools and software to increase work efficiency and standardize departmental processes and workflows.Provide exceptional member service and overall support to IASLC members, partners, and stakeholders.Stay current on recent advances and emerging trends in thoracic cancerAttend and participate in scientific activities at IASLC-sponsored meetings and events, as assigned.Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.Other duties as assigned.Requirements:COVER LETTER AND CURRENT CV/RESUME REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION FOR CONSIDERATION.Minimum Qualifications:A strong commitment to the mission of IASLC and compassion for those living with or at-risk for lung cancerGraduate degree in a scientific, public health, or healthcare field; advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, etc.) preferredMinimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a project management or healthcare administration role.Scientific or medical background or knowledge in thoracic cancer or pathology.U.S. citizenship or valid U.S. permanent resident status required.Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple scientific committees and/or projects, including project timelines, schedules, and documentation.Proficiency in using technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, virtual meeting platforms, and project management software with ability to learn additional software quickly and effectively.Ability to work flexible hours when required.Ability to travel in support of IASLC business needs (5-10%).Preferred Qualifications:Scientific or medical background in thoracic cancerPrevious work experience in a nonprofit, scientific, medical, research or academic organization.Project management experience or certification a plus.International experience and multicultural sensitivity.Multilingual fluency and/or literacy a plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact professionally, diplomatically, and effectively with external stakeholders and co-workers.Project management mindset, including having the ability to see the big picture, anticipate and plan for next steps, and manage communication with stakeholders to ensuring the timely completion of project-related tasks.Ability to effectively manage multiple simultaneous projects in different stages of progress or development to ensure that milestones and deadlines are achieved.Must be highly organized, have high attention to detail, and have strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.Ability to build and maintain productive business relationships that positively represent the IASLC and its programs.Cooperative, positive attitude; ability to collaborate professionally and effectively with staff and members.Ability to effectively solve problems in an independent, effective, and timely manner.Ability to comprehend, prioritize, and manage complex scientific information.Deep appreciation and respect for international cultural differences.Physical Demands:Ability to sit at computer workstation for extended period.Ability to lift/move 25-40 pounds on an occasional basis.Ability to travel domestically and internationally, if necessary.Work Environment:Open office environment with computer workstationsFrequent virtual meetingsModerate noise levelHybrid work scheduleBenefits:Health insurance (medical, dental, vision), life insurance, 401(k) with employer match, long- and short-term disability, EAP, flexible spending accounts, paid vacation and sick time,12 paid holidays, professional development.Compensation: $75,000-$83,000 annually, depending on education and experience.We believe the best solutions come from diverse teams.
