Senior Software System Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day software development and technical support for MES, SCADA, SQL Server, and related manufacturing applications.
• Design and maintain manufacturing software solutions, database structures, data pipelines, and application integrations.
• Create system designs, UML diagrams, interface specifications, architecture documentation, and support procedures.
• Troubleshoot production software issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize manufacturing downtime.
• Develop SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and data integrations for manufacturing operations and analytics.
• Support software deployments, configuration updates, system integrations, application enhancements, and system monitoring.
• Participate in software validation, verification, and change control processes in regulated manufacturing environments.
• Investigate the use of AI tools to accelerate development activities.
• Collaborate with IT/OT, R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams across Mesa and San Diego.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 5-8 years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 2-5 years of equivalent industry experience, or a PhD with 0-2 years of experience.
• 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing or industrial software systems, such as SCADA, LabVIEW applications, C#, or database-driven applications.
• Proficiency in SQL and database management, with familiarity with relational databases.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex technical issues in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments, including GMP, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma principles.
• Familiarity with software deployment tools, system monitoring, and version control practices.
• Experience collaborating with IT, R&D, Engineering, Quality, and Production teams.
• Practical knowledge of manufacturing standards including ISA-95 and FDA regulations such as 21 CFR Part 11.
• Preferred experience with software validation and verification of automated systems on the factory floor.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize projects, maintain timelines, document technical issues, and communicate with technical and non-technical users.
