Pay Range: $60,000 – $80,000 (Dependent on Experience and Education)

Safety Sensitive Designation: This classification is designated as a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation Drug and Alcohol Testing Regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. Employees in this classification are subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is included in the drug screening panel. Possession of a medical marijuana license shall not exempt an employee from testing requirements or the consequences of a positive test result for marijuana.

Position Summary

The Business Liaison serves as the primary point of contact between the City and the business community. This position is responsible for fostering positive relationships with existing and prospective businesses, supporting business retention and expansion efforts, coordinating communication between City departments and stakeholders, and assisting with economic development initiatives. The Business Liaison works collaboratively with City staff, developers, business owners, community organizations, and economic development partners to promote a business-friendly environment and encourage sustainable economic growth within the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as the central point of contact for businesses seeking information, assistance, or coordination with City services.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with local businesses, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and community stakeholders.
  • Assist businesses in navigating City processes, including permitting, licensing, zoning, inspections, and development procedures.
  • Coordinate communication between businesses and City departments to facilitate efficient customer service and problem resolution.
  • Conduct regular outreach visits with local businesses to identify needs, concerns, and opportunities for retention and expansion.
  • Support recruitment efforts for new businesses and commercial investment opportunities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of economic development strategies, programs, and initiatives.
  • Organize and participate in business engagement events, workshops, ribbon cuttings, and community meetings.
  • Research and compile data related to business trends, commercial development, and economic activity.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, and informational materials for City leadership and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of business contacts, projects, and ongoing initiatives.
  • Monitor and respond to constituent and business inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of municipal government operations, economic development principles, and business practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to interpret and explain City policies, ordinances, and procedures.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with department directors, business owners, developers, community partners, and the public.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and standard office software applications.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism, discretion, sound judgment, and confidentiality.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economic Development, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in economic development, business relations, public administration, community engagement, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver License required.
