We support commercial and defense firms in the development of their products. Those products are as diverse as subway cars, locomotives, military ships, trucks, jets, engine/generator sets, electronic equipment and much more. This is a great opportunity for experienced Transit Authority maintainers or operators who have retired and would like to stay active in the industry through flexible consulting work as a Technical Trainer for Operations & Maintenance Training. This part-time, contract role focuses on delivering instructor-led training based on existing materials for transit agencies and rail suppliers.Duties may include any of the following aspects of technical training instruction.Deliver instructor-led classroom and virtual training using provided course materialsTeach rail operations, maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting practicesExplain procedures in clear, practical, real-world terms based on field experienceFacilitate discussions, answer questions, and mentor trainees during sessionsDemonstrate safe work practices and reinforce regulatory and agency standardsPrepare for classes by reviewing lesson plans, presentations, and training guidesCoordinate with the training team on schedules, logistics, and class readinessProvide feedback on trainee comprehension and common knowledge gapsSupport hands-on or practical training exercises when requiredMaintain a professional, engaging, and safety-focused learning environmentDocument training delivery, attendance, and completion as requiredTravel as needed to client or training locations for in-person instruction.Qualifications and Experience15+ years of hands-on experience in transit operations or maintenanceExperience delivering training, mentoring, or supervising staff is strongly preferredExperience instructing within a rail or transit authority environment is a plus (preferred)Background as a rail vehicle or wayside equipment maintainer, operator, or training instructorStrong knowledge of transit safety practices, procedures, and real-world operationsAbility to clearly explain technical procedures and safety conceptsComfortable speaking in front of groups in classroom or virtual settingsBasic computer skills (email, video conferencing, PowerPoint or similar tools)Willingness to travel occasionally for in-person training deliveryStrong communication skills, exceptional professionalism and reliabilityAbility to work on a flexible, part-time, project-based schedule
