Job Summary Six‑Month Fellowship Training Program for Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) specialising in Neuro Critical Care at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. Responsibilities Provides expert clinical care, education, consultation, advocacy, research, leadership, and mentorship. Manages primary, acute, and chronic health problems through comprehensive history and physical examination assessment and diagnosis, including palliative and end‑of‑life care. Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures. Prescribes pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions and performs other therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health status. Promotes the advancement of the nursing profession at Lurie Children’s and the community‑at‑large, including publication, participation in professional organisations, and educational support for nursing staff. Collaborates and coordinates care with the medical team to deliver evidence‑based care and establish best practices in clinical care. Participates in research design, implementation, and interpretation. Meets the Medical Staffs Allied Health Practitioners core measures of performance related to patient care, medical knowledge, practice‑based learning and improvement, interpersonal communication skills, professionalism, and system‑based practice. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with a customer‑service focus on innovation, service excellence, and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to patients, families, co‑workers, and others. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications Open to new graduates or experienced APPs with a license to practice in Illinois, pending successful completion of the Lurie credentialing process. Master’s degree or higher from an accredited school appropriate for certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (CNS certification not acceptable if hired after January12010). Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience is preferred. Licensure in the State of Illinois as an APRN/PA required. Clinical privileges through credentialing by the Medical Staff Office must be achieved within 90days of hire. Basic Life Support certification required. Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification and/or other specialty certification required within 6months of employment. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, basic computer skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to obtain further knowledge in the specialty of Neuro Critical Care within a multidisciplinary clinical team. Evidence‑based practice proficiency through conduct or participation in research and academic activities. Support for nursing and leadership to promote advancement of the nursing profession at Lurie Children’s and the community‑at‑large. Compensation Salary range: $118,560.00 – $195,624.00.
