Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Level IV NICU position at an academic medical center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring 2 years of NICU experience and NRP certification.

Details

• Level IV NICU at a large academic medical center and Level I Trauma hospital with 885 licensed adult beds and 196 pediatric beds
• Patient population includes premature infants from 23 weeks gestation through term, with varying acuity levels including surgical patients (NEC, CDH, etc.)
• Average daily census of 71 patients
• 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation (minimum)
• No on-call requirements
• Floating may be required to General Pediatrics, PICU, Adolescent Pediatrics, and Pediatric Hem/Onc
• EMR: Epic
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• Proficiency in basic ventilator management, central line management, and pre/post-surgical care
• Experience with tracheostomy management, G-tube management, and blood transfusions
• Infant venous stick skills required
• Breastfeeding support, bottle feeding, and gavage feeding experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted
• Former permanent employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
• Unit is supported by nursing assistants at a 1:20 ratio and 2 Charge RNs per shift
• Orientation includes NEO onboarding plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Time off requests require Resource Team approval
• Scrubs: Royal Blue
