Principal Research Scientist II

AbbVie seeks a Principal Research Scientist II to lead the US Pharmacokinetics Team in preclinical drug development. The role combines scientific expertise in pharmacokinetics and toxicokinetics with team leadership, strategic planning, and operational excellence initiatives supporting the company's discovery and development pipeline.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Pharmacokinetics Team including recruitment, performance management, and succession planning
- Establish strategic direction and operational priorities for the Pharmacokinetics organization
- Oversee non-clinical PK/TK study design, analysis, interpretation, and regulatory documentation
- Drive operational excellence and innovation initiatives focused on workflow optimization and automation
- Build cross-functional partnerships with Discovery Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, CMC, and Toxicology functions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree plus 16 years experience, or Master's plus 14 years, or PhD plus 8 years in pharmacokinetics or related scientific discipline
- 10+ years pharmaceutical industry experience in drug discovery and development programs
- Proven track record leading scientific teams and developing talent
- Deep knowledge of non-clinical study design, PK/TK analysis, interpretation, and reporting
- Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management capabilities
- Expertise in preclinical pharmacokinetics and toxicokinetics (preferred)
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions and cross-functional project teams (preferred)
