Immediate Hire Maintenance Assistant Part time

Maintenance Assistant (FT - 35 hr/wk) ***We are seeking a dependable, hands-on, and skilled Maintenance Assistant to help maintain Providence Public Library's historic building, equipment, and grounds. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building maintenance and repair, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. This role is essential to ensuring a safe, clean, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for our staff, patrons, and community. This position is responsible for keeping the outside grounds clean and the building maintained by performing highly diversified duties including but not limited to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the facility and its equipment. Maintains, repairs and operates building systems, equipment, and various other building components including but not limited to: electro-mechanical and HVAC systems operates and maintains low pressure boilers and air conditioning systems repairs furniture and performs basic rough and finish carpentry as well as stone, tile and VCT minor electrical and plumbing repairs interior and exterior painting ground maintenance to include picking up trash and cleaning plant beds as necessary operates snow removal equipment and shovels snow as necessary assists with building security Collaborate with External Relations as feasible/needed to support outreach, donor stewardship, and other fundraising activities. Microsoft programs, Google Docs/Drive). Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. 3-5 years of broad experience and/or training in building maintenance, construction, or related field.

• Must be a responsible worker, willing to work a flexible schedule which includes weekends and evenings, willing to learn, follow direction, and able to work independently.
• High School graduate or GED required
• Google applications (Gmail, Meet, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms) and other various Google applications experience required.
• Knowledge of Zoom, Google Meet or other web-conferencing software or applications.

Driving/Travel requirements – 0-10% This position is: Non-exempt and is part of the Union Hours: 35 hours per week, variable hours based on Monday - Friday, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm.
