Role Under general direction, the Food Services Manager is responsible for providing hands‑on instruction to clients enrolled in the onsite Food Services training program and supervising subordinate staff. The manager contributes to the multidisciplinary team by developing vocational treatment plans and ensuring meals are prepared in accordance with standards. Responsibilities Provides Food Services instruction to assigned clients and subordinate staff. Designs and implements an outcome‑oriented Food Services certification program and curriculum. Communicates clients’ progress to Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling staff and Case Managers. Maintains accurate educational records. Orders educational materials within purchasing protocols. Supervises and trains clients who serve as instructional aides. Supervises, trains, appraises, and counsels subordinate staff. Assists vocational staff in evaluating clients’ work readiness. Conducts research and implements educational field trips, seminars, and special events related to Food Services instruction. Participates in professional seminars and in‑service training. Teaches Food Service classes with an emphasis on individualized instruction. Participates in staff, case, and community meetings. Maintains ethical standards in interactions with clients and co‑workers. Ensures compliance with health and safety codes and agency menu plan. Prepares and serves meals in a timely manner. Performs additional duties as requested. Qualifications Food Handling Certificate (NYC‑based programs). High School Graduate or GED. Completion of an approved Culinary School training program. At least 3 years of Food Service experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity. Experience working with substance use and mental health populations. Good understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures. Demonstrates creativity in designing coursework that provides competitive marketability for class participants. Ability to adjust communication style to match staff and clients. Computer literacy. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
