Job Responsibilities Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence‑based nursing care in a patient‑ and family‑centered manner. Perform thorough patient assessments, interpret data, and identify care priorities. Develop and implement individualized plans of care to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Evaluate patient progress, anticipate changes, and adjust care plans accordingly. Coordinate care and discharge planning with the healthcare team and community resources. Advocate for patients’ rights and ensure their needs and preferences are respected. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with standards. Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other disciplines. Serve as a clinical resource, mentor, and preceptor to peers and new staff. Engage in professional growth, continuing education, and quality improvement initiatives. Requirements Work Schedule: Full‑time night shift with 3 × 12‑hour shifts per week from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.; 16 hours of on‑call per 6‑week period; must be able to arrive within 1 hour; 1 summer and 1 winter holiday; 5 weekend shifts per 6‑week period. Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing; if holding an ADN, must complete BSN within 5 years of start date. Experience: At least 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care unit or completion of a critical care fellowship. Certification: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) required upon start. For critical care units: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months. For pediatric units: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months. For infusion center units: obtain chemo card within 3 months of hire. Licensure: Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, or an active multi‑state RN license. Preferred Qualifications Two years of recent RN inpatient experience on a Labor and Delivery Unit. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
