A day in the life

Step into our Sycamore, IL facility where precision is the standard. You review work orders, interpret blueprints, and plan your approach for both mills and lathes. You load programs, touch off tools, verify setups, and run a first-article check with calipers and micrometers. Throughout the shift, you keep a close eye on cycle performance, adjust offsets to hold tolerances, and perform light maintenance to keep machines running smoothly. You wrap up by documenting results, sharing improvement ideas with your team, and leaving a spotless, safe workstation.

• Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to manufacture parts that meet exact specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine the correct machining sequence.
• Monitor machine performance and fine-tune parameters to maintain quality and throughput.
• Complete routine machine care to sustain accuracy and extend equipment life.
• Inspect finished components using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to verify accuracy.
• Partner with teammates to streamline processes and boost productivity.
• Keep the work area organized and follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification in CNC machining preferred).
• Hands-on experience as a CNC operator or machinist; setup experience is a plus.
• Solid understanding of CNC machining on mills and lathes.
• Ability to interpret prints and technical documents with confidence.
• Proficiency using precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers).
• Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving skills.
• Clear communication and a collaborative, team-first mindset.
