Position Overview

Our organization is currently inviting applications for the role of Staff Physician in the Gastroenterology department. We are looking for a full-time, board-certified physician to join our team at the Eastern Oklahoma VA Medical Center Hospital. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic clinical environment and hold dual board certifications in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. We are particularly interested in individuals who are passionate about managing both outpatient and inpatient consultations. This position supports a 60-bed VA hospital located in Tulsa and reports directly to the Chief of Medicine Specialty. Please note that this is a non-supervisory role. Responsibilities

Staff Physicians may have opportunities to engage in teaching due to our collaboration with Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (OSUCOM) and the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine (OUCOM). Qualified candidates should possess an MD or DO, a current medical license, and be board-certified or eligible in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. The ideal applicant will be suitable for an academic appointment at OSUCOM and OUCOM, with opportunities for teaching and research. Endoscopy services are available at both the hospital and outpatient clinic, supported by a strong history of clinical and academic excellence. Candidates must also meet the eligibility criteria for appointment at the VA. The Gastroenterology section's clinical activities encompass a wide range of subspecialties and are well-supported by surgery, pathology, radiology, and other members of the Medicine Service team.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position, operating Monday through Friday, with the possibility of evening or weekend shifts as part of a 24/7 full-time physician role. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with ad-hoc telework eligibility, though it is not a remote position.

Essential Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen; non-U.S. citizens may be considered.

• Possession of a current, full, and unrestricted medical license to practice in the U.S.

• Board Certification in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine is preferred; however, Board Eligibility may also be taken into account.

Benefits and Compensation

Expected salary for this position ranges from $320,000 to $400,000, with the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000. A sign-on bonus will also be provided.

• This position may qualify for the Physician/Provider Contract Buy Out Program (CBOP), which enables the organization to buy out service contracts (including locum agreements, loan repayments, and sign-on bonuses) in exchange for employment at specific rural or highly rural facilities for a minimum obligated service period of four years.
