Permit Clerk

The City of Lake Worth Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Permit Clerk.

This position is based on a 40-hour work week with an hourly pay rate of $18.4111 - $23.3870. This position is part of the Public Employees Union (PEU). Working at the Utilities Building located at 1900 2nd Avenue North, Lake Worth, FL 33461.

Job Summary:

Under close supervision, performs a variety of complex administrative duties associated with Building Division permits; and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Schedules building inspections
• Results contract and private provider inspections
• Issues permits
• Scans paper building permit applications
• Answers permit status questions
• Permit resend and document sending

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of policies, practices, procedures and terminology of City licenses and permits.
• Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
• Skill in using standard office machinery and equipment.
• Skill in using computers and standard application software.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Position involves sedentary to light work in an office setting. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, sit, lift light objects (up to 10 pounds) and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. The City of Lake Worth Beach promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED and one (1) year of administrative or clerical experience including customer service experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

All full-time employees are considered critical in response to emergency situations and may be deemed essential as needed depending on the situation.

Employees in this position will be required to complete the FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Certification Levels 100, 200, 700 and 800 within the first six months of employment. Certain positions may be required to attain additional ICS training as needed.
