Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher

Position Overview The Pre‑Kindergarten Lead Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where children have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and physical growth. This person organizes and implements an instructional program that results in children’s participation in learning activities and imaginative play in accordance with Legacy Traditional School policies and State Standards. Essential Functions Plan, develop, and implement age‑appropriate curriculum that provides instruction in basic skills such as color, shape, number, and letter recognition as well as social skills. Establish clear objectives for all lessons and lead instruction in all activities. Assist students, individually or in small groups, with assignments such as reading stories, writing assistance, and reinforcement of language, numbers, alphabet, and computer learning programs. Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials (e.g., art projects, computer, language skills) to support and reinforce classroom goals. Assist students during lunchtime, toileting, and washing activities and enforce cleanup behaviors by modeling appropriate conduct. Prepare instructional materials such as laminating, making posters, making copies, bulletin boards, filing, and newsletters. Provide a comfortable and secure environment for young students by engaging in nurturing behavior. Report observations and incidents (e.g., accidents, social behavior, rule violations) to appropriate instructional and administrative personnel. Maintain effective and efficient record‑keeping procedures. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and professionals on a regular basis. Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment. Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community. Ensure continuous and appropriate student growth and achievement for age group, subject area, and/or program classification. Participate in training and staff meetings and meet professional obligations such as deadlines and schedules. Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate accomplishments. Encourage students to uphold school values and model mature behavior and good character. Be active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout campus, and traveling to other campuses as required. Participate in events outside normal hours and perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Early Childhood Teaching Certification for Texas. Pass a criminal history background check. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or education. Familiarity with The Children’s Learning Institute (CLI Engage). Other Requirements Lifting objects up to 25 pounds on occasion. May require sitting for long periods, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping, and long periods of concentration.
