About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Blood and Marrow Transplantation Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night or Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 1.5 years of acute care experience in Blood and Marrow Transplantation, Hematology, and chemotherapy administration preferred. License: Current RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, ONC certification, Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) Must-Have: Candidates must be comfortable and have prior experience working in environments with flexible staffing ratios. Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care for patients with blood cancers who are receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies such as stem cell transplants and CAR-T. This is a 51-bed unit designed for managing patients undergoing intensive treatment. The nurse-to-patient ratios will typically be 3-4 to 1, but may flex up based on staffing and unit needs. Candidates should expect to float between related units as required by facility demands. Nurses will be responsible for administering chemotherapy and monitoring patients for signs of complications. Candidates must be familiar with the care and management of ports and central lines, as well as handling body fluids post-chemotherapy. Nurses should possess skills in administering blood and blood products, and be prepared to manage complications associated with treatment, including tumor lysis syndrome and graft-versus-host disease. The position may require weekend shifts based on unit needs. Orientation to the facility will be required, with a completion of facility-specific modules necessary within the first week. Nurses must be proactive in monitoring and communicating abnormal lab values and adapting patient care plans accordingly. First-time travelers are welcome, provided they have the required experience in similar settings.
