Administrative Patient Services Representative

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, where your role as an Administrative Patient Services Representative will be vital in ensuring smooth patient access to medical services. You will be the welcoming face for patients, assisting with registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and providing essential support throughout their healthcare journey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Create a warm and efficient environment for patients, addressing their needs and guiding them through initial healthcare processes.
- Collect and accurately enter demographic information such as name, address, phone number, date of birth, and insurance details.
- Update patient records with any changes and obtain necessary consents and forms.
- Verify insurance coverage through direct contact with providers or electronic systems, ensuring correct coverage is applied.
- Obtain pre-authorizations or referrals as needed and clearly explain insurance benefits and financial responsibilities to patients.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by promptly answering calls, addressing concerns, and providing information.
- Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and other payments in line with organizational policies.
- Support efficient claims processing and patient satisfaction by managing work queues effectively.
- Assist patients in navigating online patient portals and adapt to shifting work assignments as business needs evolve.
Education High School Diploma or GED is required. Experience Preferred experience includes at least six months in office, call center, customer service, or healthcare settings. Familiarity with computers and standard office equipment is necessary, with proficiency in data entry being a plus. Graduates of accredited medical receptionist programs or those with two years of healthcare experience are preferred. Certification/License Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required. Mental/Physical Requirements The role demands strong concentration, attention to detail, and the ability to perform tasks under time constraints. It involves extensive computer use with frequent interruptions, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and assisting patients in wheelchairs. Ability to lift up to 10 pounds is necessary. Working Conditions Standard office environment with occasional exposure to noise, fumes, chemicals, hazards, or diseases. Flexibility to work various shifts is required.
