Job Title: IQ Field Service Technician (Compressed Days/Nights)

Job Description

The field service technician sustains, maintains, and troubleshoots complex thermal management systems and large electro-mechanical equipment at a semiconductor manufacturing site. This role focuses on both electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, supports installation and service activities, and ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently. The technician works in a cleanroom and manufacturing environment, frequently wearing a bunny suit and respirator, and regularly handles tools and hazardous materials while maximizing equipment output and supporting a self-sustaining team.

Responsibilities

• Sustain, maintain, and troubleshoot large electro-mechanical equipment and thermal management systems onsite at a semiconductor manufacturing facility.

• Perform advanced troubleshooting with a roughly 50/50 split between electrical and mechanical issues, using logic, schematics, and available resources to identify and resolve problems.

• Support installation and service activities to ensure the continuation and expansion of thermal management systems in the facility.

• Maximize equipment output using constraint management techniques while sustaining process stability and equipment performance.

• Perform regular maintenance and repair on vacuum systems, pumps, and other mechanical and electrical components using appropriate hand tools, power tools, and test equipment such as multimeters.

• Work safely and effectively around hazardous materials and chemicals, following all safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment, including respirators and cleanroom attire.

• Operate in environments where tools and equipment may be dirty and require careful handling and cleaning.

• Collaborate with team members and client personnel, communicating clearly to coordinate work, report issues, and support shared goals.

• Ask for help when needed and leverage documentation, schematics, and other resources to solve complex technical problems.

• Train and cross-train team members to build a self-sustaining team capable of supporting ongoing operations.

• Manage personal workload as a self-starter, balancing multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining strong attention to detail.

• Use basic math skills and computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email to document work, track activities, and communicate status.

• Work in confined spaces and stand for extended periods while performing maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.

• Lift and move equipment or components weighing up to 50 pounds as part of routine maintenance and repair activities.

Essential Skills

• Electro-mechanical experience (2+ years) working with both electrical and mechanical systems.

• Demonstrated troubleshooting and repair experience on complex equipment, including electrical and mechanical components.

• Good problem-solving ability and logical thinking skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

• Ability to work as a self-starter, managing individual tasks while also supporting team activities.

• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and technical work.

• Computer literacy, including experience with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.

• Experience using hand tools and power tools for maintenance and repair tasks.

• Experience using a multimeter for electrical testing and diagnostics (preferred but strongly beneficial).

• Ability to read or work with schematics (experience with schematics is a plus).

• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with both client personnel and internal team members.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily duties.

• Comfort working in a cleanroom environment and wearing cleanroom attire (bunny suit).

• Comfort wearing a respirator, potentially for up to 70% of the time, and passing required breathing capability assessments.

• Comfort working in confined spaces and standing for long periods.

• Comfort working with hazardous materials and chemicals while following safety protocols.

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Associate degree in a technical, automotive/diesel, or related field (preferred).

• Experience with vacuum systems and pumps.

• Experience in service, maintenance, or mechanical technician roles.

• Experience in semiconductor, manufacturing, or similar high-tech environments.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with strong attention to detail.

• Willingness to undergo spirometer testing or similar assessments related to respirator use.

• Interest in gaining or expanding experience in semiconductor equipment and thermal management systems.

Work Environment

The role operates in a mix of office and semiconductor fabrication/manufacturing environments. Time is split between office-based activities and working on equipment within a cleanroom (fab) setting. In the fab, you wear cleanroom attire (bunny suit) and, at times, a respirator, potentially for a significant portion of the shift. You regularly work around hazardous materials and chemicals, following strict safety and handling procedures. The job involves working with dirty tools and large machinery, often in confined spaces, and requires standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. You use standard hand tools, power tools, and test equipment such as multimeters, and you rely on computer systems, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email, to document and support your work. The position follows a swing shift schedule, supporting ongoing manufacturing operations in a highly controlled, technology-driven environment.C

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
