Performs venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens; may perform CLIA waived laboratory tests. Performs specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens, labels tubes and specimen containers, collects specimens and performs simple tests under supervision. Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned. May operate simple lab equipment under supervision. Assists pathologists as needed. Prepares solutions, labels tubes and specimen containers, collects specimens and performs simple tests under supervision. Processes anatomic pathology and cytology specimens. Obtains blood specimens for all age groups serviced. Uses, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment and uses protective equipment to protect form exposure to chemical, radiation and infectious hazards. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures Responsibilities Interpersonal skills to interact in a professional and competent manner using effective listening, verbal and written communications with patients, clients, laboratory colleagues and other healthcare professionals Service orientation actively looking for ways to care through respect, courtesy, empathy and warmth when communicating with patients and clients Aware of response to others by using feedback, listening skills, verbal and non-verbal communication skills Team-work skills contributing to departmental success Operate basic laboratory equipment, computers and medical software Qualifications Minimum Requirements Experience: Ability to complete blood draws independently within six-weeks of hire. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Preferred Requirements Experience: 6 months of laboratory experience preferred.
