MPI Machine Operator I - 2nd Shift

Position Machine Operator I – 2nd Shift Reports to Branch Manager Compensation Hourly Pay: $23.00 – $25.19 with a 24‑month wage progression plus shift differential. Description McWane Plant and Industrial (MPI) seeks an experienced Machine Operator for our Job Shop Fabrication and Machining operation. The role includes measuring, threading, adjusting flange fit, and facing the flange on ductile or steel pipe. The operator will use manual machine tools such as lathes and threaders and operate the crane to move pipe in and out of machining centers. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (desired) Previous experience with machinery (desired) Good mathematics, tape measure, micrometer skills Understanding of machinery processes Consistent attendance; able to arrive on time daily Team player willing to work across machines Positive, enthusiastic, helpful demeanor Regular full‑time attendance important Scope of Responsibilities Ensuring personal safety and the safety of team members Assisting supervisors in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment Wearing appropriate PPE (fall protection, respiratory, hearing, foot, hand, head, eye) Maintaining cleanliness of assigned work area Promoting McWane Way principles Following Clear Water Safety Management Program processes Identifying fabrication requirements for each pipe piece Placing pipe in machine, centering, tightening for work; machining tapered threads and verifying measurements Testing flange fit and applying glue, tightening flange onto pipe For threaders: removing pipe from machine and moving to next operation For lathes: running cutting tool across flange face to flush fit flange onto pipe Operating primarily on 3″–6″ pipe diameter, 4‑in to 18‑ft lengths Meeting production output objectives for the work center Adhering to quality standards Other duties as assigned Work Environment Requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls Verbal and written English communication required Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling Regular lifting up to 10 lbs, frequent lifting up to 25 lbs, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs Must wear appropriate PPE (steel‑toed boots, safety glasses, hearing protection) Must work in dust and fumes, tolerate loud noises, and sometimes work overtime/extended hours Must work outside in all weather conditions Knowledge of industrial tools and maintenance required Vision abilities: close, peripheral, depth perception, color differentiation Must operate forklift and obtain certification EEO Statement McWane is a Federal VEVRAA contractor and an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to providing equal employment opportunity in all employment practices.
