Our client, a world leader in diagnostics and life sciences, is looking for an "Bioinformatics Software Engineer" based out of South San Francisco, CA. - Develop and maintain software applications using Java and Python to support sequencing lab systems.
- Build and support bioinformatics pipelines using Workflow Description Language (WDL) and Cromwell Workflow Engine .
- Write and optimize queries in Oracle Database using SQL/PL-SQL for data processing and integration.
- Develop automation scripts using Bash for data workflows and analysis tasks.
- Integrate laboratory systems such as Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with sequencing platforms and analysis pipelines.
- Support pipeline execution in HPC environments and cloud platforms like Amazon Web Services .
- Troubleshoot pipeline performance and maintain documentation and version control using Git .
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or related field with 3+ years of experience .
- Strong experience with Java, Python, SQL/PL-SQL, and Bash scripting .
- Experience with bioinformatics pipelines, workflow automation, and scientific data systems .
- Knowledge of NGS workflows, HPC environments, and container technologies such as Docker is a plus.
