Senior DevOps Engineer (Kubernetes)

InfluxData is the creator of InfluxDB, the leading time series platform used to collect, store, and analyze all time series data at any scale. Developers can query and analyze their time-stamped data in real-time to discover, interpret, and share new insights to gain a competitive edge. InfluxData is a remote-first company with a globally distributed workforce.

You'll be using your Linux ops and teamwork skills to maintain and extend foundational technologies to provide highly available, distributed services to customers who rely on InfluxData's time series platform where metrics and events are first-class citizens.

You'll join an awesome team, bringing experience in designing, implementing, and operating large scale, multi-cloud Kubernetes infrastructure driven by GitOps methodology. What you'd bring to the table

• Production-level experience with Kubernetes and surrounding ecosystems (e.g., Istio , Vault , and other Cloud Native technologies) in production environments.
• Terraform and other automation tooling to make life more predictable: you’ve taken manual processes and automated them, or taken automated processes and refined them.
• Hands-on experience with production workloads within managed and self-managed Kubernetes platforms as well as more general DevOps patterns (e.g., compute, storage, database, network) inside one or more of the cloud providers we use: AWS , Google , Azure .
• Being a vocal participant of the team, focused on iterative excellence.
• Willingness to participate in a low-volume pager rotation and serve as a subject matter expert on many areas of Kubernetes and general infrastructure and operational principles.
• Methodical troubleshooting: You’re able to work through complex issues both individually and as part of a team.

Bonus if you've had experience

• Working in a role maintaining and operating a SAAS environment
• Being an incident commander, engaging multiple groups simultaneously to resolve critical problems.
• CI/CD experience. We use CircleCI and GitHub Actions , but understanding methodology is more important than using the same vendors.
• Automating All the Things with great success (or, if not, how you learned from the experience).
• Thriving in a remote-first, distributed team environment.
• Working with, or on, applications written using Go and/or Rust
