Cyberspace Research Developer (Onsite)

Overview BBN Technologies, a member of RTX Corporation, focuses on electromagnetic warfare, communications, cybersecurity, and related fields for the U.S. Department of Defense and the Intelligence Community. Position Summary Cyberspace Research Developer – Onsite, U.S. Citizenship required with an active Top Secret security clearance. What You Will Do Develop next‑generation cyber capabilities and cyber physical systems. Create or investigate exploits, implants, payloads, and communication stacks via reverse engineering and vulnerability analysis. Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to solve challenging problems and deliver actionable results. Operationalize software through testing, documentation, and integration with other systems. Participate in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze data, test new capabilities, and conduct demonstrations. Occasional overnight travel for certain projects. What You Will Learn You will be part of a leadership team experienced in government R&D, benefit from a collaborative environment, receive mentorship from research scientists, and gain exposure to business development, programmatic, contracting, finance, and HR support. Qualifications Must Have: A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics and less than two years of experience. Proficiency in C/C++ or Python. Experience with assembly language (x86/64, ARM, etc.). Reverse engineering skills using tools such as IDA, Ghidra, or Binary Ninja. Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, wire‑level protocols, BGP, RF communications). Preferred: Capture The Flag (CTF) experience. OS kernel development experience (Windows, Linux, macOS, Android). Network programming skills. Hardware emulation experience. Knowledge of RF signal processing and algorithm development. Hands‑on experience with system architecture design, prototyping, and technical project leadership. Active security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as the position requires an active U.S. security clearance from day one. Location Onsite in either Columbia, MD or Cambridge, MA. Employees are responsible for commuting to the site.
