Position Overview

• The Electromyography Technologist, under the Director of Neurodiagnostic Services, performs nerve conduction studies and assists physicians with needle examination in the laboratory and at the patient's bedside

Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to young adult, adult, and geriatric age patients
• Proven ability to work with physicians, administrators, and staff
• Demonstrates the ability to problem solve
• Demonstrates the ability to resolve technical issues within their field
• Possesses excellent communication skills
• Possesses strong computer skills (MS Office - Excel, Word)
• Demonstrates knowledge of patient history, anatomy, and technical skill pertinent to EMG technicians

Technical & Equipment Responsibilities

• Ability to assemble and disassemble EMG equipment for redressing per each patient case
• Displays knowledge of proper function of equipment
• Displays technical skill of electrode placement and proficiency with components of machine
• Displays knowledge of cleaning procedures for equipment

Clinical & Administrative Competencies

• Possesses ability to record responses with testing and can differentiate between normal and abnormal responses
• Displays knowledge of data entry to electronic health record and hospital billing
• Possesses ability to assemble monthly statistics
• Displays ability to teach co-workers and precept students in the field

Qualifications:

• Required: Associate's degree in business, Allied Health, or a related field OR at least 1 year of experience as a current Electromyography Technician (R.NCS.T)
• Required: Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist (R.NCS.T or CNCT) within 2 years of hire.
• Required: BLS from AHA
• 1 year of experience
